How I Conquered PTSD to live a life that truly matters by helping others

‘Begin with the end in mind’ is a classic quote from Steven Covey, author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

As I set about turning my life around, one of the things that dawned on me was that I’d never actually sat down and done this.

On page 140, I wrote this:

This was another mistake I’d made, and there was a bitter lesson to be learned from it. The mistake I’d made, even though I had all this information sitting around in scores of books, heaps of cassettes tapes, and heaps of DVDs, and the seminars I had attended, and the notebooks I’d filled up, I had never ever sat down to think through where I was actually headed, where I was actually going in life.

Then the penny dropped. The price I paid until I realized and knew I’d truly learned a bitter lesson is almost beyond being able to have a value attached to it. In terms of relationships, I trashed my marriage of 32 years, and almost trashed the relationship with my partner and girlfriend.

In monetary terms, it’s close to $1 million. How f***ing stupid can you get?

Remember the parachute? ‘Your mind is like a parachute - It only works when it’s open’

Not only had I not sat down to really think through where I was going, I had never sat down to write it down, and to put it into a precise plan.

On page 142, I wrote the following:

Ask yourself: If money was no object and I could have Utopia (whatever that means for you) what do I want to do or to be?

Now write that down. Why?

It’s because the 5% of those men and women who achieve their life’s goals and aspirations have them written down.

Apart from that, the irrefutable evidence shows that writing things
down, then reading them out loud to yourself on a daily basis, has them at the forefront of your conscious mind, then imprints them indelibly into your subconscious mind as you then harness its power for the betterment of your life and the achievement of your goals and aspirations.

This is another lesson I’ve learned when I reflect back on my life’s journey. I’ve come across more people who poo poo this, than those who acknowledge and accept it.

But when I look at and speak with those whom I am now working with on my next project, a project which is directly connected to this book, and will be available to everyone who reads this book, every single one of them have written down goals, a written plan, and a specific time

for their achievement.

Every one of these people are multimillionaires. Every one of them
have done this on their own. None of them inherited piles of money. They are all just ordinary people who have set out a vision for themselves and made it happen. You will meet them on the website. Just bog ordinary people like you and me who aspire to do and to be something better and to live a life of plenty.
