How I Conquered PTSD to live a life that truly matters by helping others

" I ventured into Kevin's book not knowing what to expect. I knew he had been working on this project regarding "PTSD" for several years but did not know what direction it was going to take.

There is a saying "everyone has a story.” Reading this blunt, brutal but honest account of Kevin's own "story" awoke my own demons. We both travelled similar paths of denial and potential self harm. The "stories " of servicemen and servicewomen exposed to traumatic events resonates with the pattern Kevin explains in his book of despair, substance abuse, low self esteem.

The powerful message Kevin gives to all who suffer PTSD is there is a light at the end of the tunnel. He then explains the tools available and how to access them.

I commend this book and Kevin for making it his passion to selflessly assist his service family, old and and contemporary.

In closing, Kevin has stimulated me into action and I will be using these tools for the benefit of my family and myself. I read this in one day and it will become a well thumbed friend on my bookshelf. Well done mate. Regards Barney

Ps thank you for saving my life

“Beat PSTD” Kevin Lloyd-Thomas

Praise for the Author

Met a man at the grim coal face of confronting one of humanity’s greatest scourges …PTSD. (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

… That darkness and devastation which often and relentlessly wreaks itself unsuspectingly upon families and true hearted individuals who walk the fine line between life and death.

Kevin knows. He has been there.

Now he has stepped up to the plate and taken the scourge of the “Black Dog” head on.

Driven by a passion to truly help his fellow man and an unflinching dedication to the truth, he brings to you a masterpiece of personal insights: how to navigate the depression, addictions, social alienation and potential family disintegration of this tragic, human mental state.

With defiant optimism and a raw, gut-wrenching compassion Kevin has created an absolute must-read.

Regarding Kevin’s Book - Raw, Riveting & Real.

In his book Kevin talks about the “roller coaster” of his life, the ups and downs and the lessons learned. When reading his book you will experience every one of Kevin’s hills and valleys and the cliff that very nearly ended it all. I found myself in emotional lock step as Kevin bares his soul and shares his most personal and private stories.

His journey to PTSD is very real and very familiar to all of us who have served in the military. A serviceman or women would not be human if they had not at some point, on any military operation, experienced a degree of traumatic stress. The effects are cumulative and then it is simply a matter of environment and processing to determine how these events will affect our future lives. For some the effects are barely felt, for others devastating. As I read of Kevin’s experiences I could not think otherwise but for the grace of a God go I.

I applaud Kevin’s courage and determination to write this book. It is meant for veterans, their families, friends and co-workers. Indeed, for anyone who has asked the question “what is wrong with that Digger and what can we do to help.” Unlike many books on this subject written by academics or doctors, Kevin has lived through this disease and has provided real and tangible answers. He has provided a roadmap back to wellness and self-worth. His five step plan and seven pillars of wisdom provide the firm base to return life to balance and success. I commend this book to anyone touched by the cruel and insidious effects of PTSD and thank Kevin for having the guts to tell his story.
